Privacy Policy for Character Counter

This agreement is based on Japanese, and this translation is for reference only. If any discrepancy between the interpretation of this agreement and the interpretation of the original is found, the interpretation of this agreement shall be based on the interpretation of the original.

This Privacy Policy governs how Codepaint Inc. ("we", "our") handles personal data and text data when you use our text processing tool "Character Counter" (the "Service"). Our Service now performs all text processing in your web browser. Consequently, your text data is never transmitted to our servers or any external cloud storage. This Privacy Policy is provided in compliance with applicable laws, including the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act).

1. Text Data Handling

When you use our Service to process texts, all processing occurs directly in your browser. Your text data remains on your device and is not uploaded to our servers or any external storage. We do not collect, store, or process your text data for any purpose.

2. Limited Use of Text Data

The text processing functionality is solely provided for your convenience. As your text data is processed locally, it is used only for the purpose of applying the requested text modifications and is not used for any other purposes such as marketing, analytics, or machine learning.

3. No Third-Party Sharing of Text Data

Since text data is processed on your device, we do not share or disclose any of your text data to third parties. The Service operates entirely on the client side, ensuring that we have no access to your uploaded texts.

4. Log Data and Security

We may collect certain access information (e.g., access date and time, IP address, browser type, etc.) via standard access logs for security and service improvement purposes. Such log data is retained for a limited period (e.g., 30 days) and is managed under appropriate security measures including encryption and access controls. After the retention period, this information is securely deleted.

5. Response to Deletion Requests

Since text data is processed on your device and never transmitted or stored on our servers, we do not have any text data to delete. However, if you request deletion of any personal data (such as log information) that we may have collected, we will comply with applicable laws and respond accordingly.

6. No Storage of Processing History

Our Service does not store any history of processed texts. Once the text is processed on your device, neither the processed text nor related data is retained by us.

7. GDPR Compliance

We adhere to the GDPR and ensure that the personal data of users residing in the European Economic Area (EEA) is handled lawfully and transparently. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. We implement appropriate safeguards, including the use of standard contractual clauses, when transferring data outside the EEA.

8. CCPA Compliance

For users residing in California, we comply with the CCPA. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Should you request access to or deletion of your personal data, we will comply in accordance with applicable laws. Note that as our Service does not store text data after processing, any such request would pertain only to other personal data (e.g., access logs).

9. Data Storage Location

Any personal data (such as access logs) that we collect is stored on our secure servers. Since text data is processed locally, it is not stored on our servers. We reserve the right to use different server locations as our service expands, and any cross-border data transfers will be managed in compliance with applicable regulations.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy as needed. Significant changes will be posted on our website, and the revised policy will take effect as of the posting date.
